Antarctica
I went to another world.
Crossed the Antarctic Circle.
Got my passport stamped along the way on a privileged landing on Cape Horn.
Camped out overnight on an island in deep snow in a simple bivy sack.
Got up close and sweetly personal with a gang of inquisitive adolescent gentoo penguins.
Cruised around icebergs in a zodiac and saw leopard seals soaking up the sun six feet away.
Saw whales blow and fluke and breach.
Followed wandering albatrosses with my eyes until my head began to spin.
I’ve been blown away and I’ve landed in a different place and nothing feels the same.
My head and my notebook are filled with a thousand images, moments, and stories, and I have months’ worth of material to sift and articulate.
This page is only the tip of the iceberg.
